Masarap Box is a Filipino snack box that’s delivered right to your doorstep. We carefully curate new and nostalgic Filipino snacks and goodies and regularly collaborate with other Filipino small businesses to bring the masarap taste of the Philippines to you.
My name is Samantha and I’m the founder of Masarap Box.
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Baguio in the Philippines.
I moved to the Bay Area in 2005 and really missed a lot of Filipino snacks and junk food that I grew up eating.
Years later when I became pregnant with my daughter, my cravings for nostalgic snacks from the Philippines intensified! I craved Filipino snacks that were hard or impossible to find in any Asian stores or online.
One time, I kept telling my husband that I was craving this candy that I used to buy in our school cafeteria that tasted like this sweet, chalky, powdered milk, but I couldn’t recall the name.I literally cried because I was so frustrated that I couldn’t remember the name of that candy — well, I blame it on the hormones.
Fast forward to 9 months after my daughter was born, I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace and saw a familiar light blue packaging with a cow on it. I screamed, “OMG! It’s called Haw Haw!”
If you’re like me, you’re probably an avid food fan. And while you love trying new types of food, there’s nothing like the nostalgic Filipino snacks you grew up with that were typically found at a small, locally-owned sari-sari store.
This is what sparked my passion to create Masarap Box. I wanted to combine hard-to-find nostalgic and new Filipino snacks and food items in a carefully curated themed snack box that’s delivered right to your doorstep!
Whenever I come home from a stressful day at work, I tend to seek comfort in these familiar tastes of home. My hope is that you get the same comforting feeling when you open up your very own Masarap Box!
